  • The guitar is a prop and comes with 6 complete styles.
  • Instead of MAT poses there are single materials for each part (so you can mix and match) and material collections (P6/P7) for each style.
  • For convenience the 6 different styles are included as separate props. Use the supplied materials for when you need to change style of an already posed guitar. Also included are templates for the three maps if you want to make your own textures.
  • I tried to balance the model so it's detailed enough for reasonable close-ups while not too heavy on your system. At 26351 vertices and 41446 faces it is not exactly light by poser standards, but unless your computer is severely underpowered it is no problem.
  • There are three morph targets; one to turn the tuning keys, one to turn the volume and tone knobs and in order to provide you with some artistic freedom one to vary the thickness of the body.
  • Two versions of the Neck maps and materials are included, with and without the Westwood logo.
  • I also included some figure-poses as a starting point, they were made for vicki 2 but will work for V3 with some adjustments.
  • A Plectrum prop with hand poses is also included for good measure.
  • Requirements: e-frontier Poser, for best results version 6 or better.
  • See the included Readme-file for instructions and details or read it here.

I have only tested this package in Poser 6 and 7, I have no idea if the materials will work in P5 but they will not work in earlier versions. So you have to set up the materials yourself if you are using an earlier Poser but it's not a big deal. All the diffuse-, bump- and reflectionmaps are there and you find a complete file-list in the ZIP. Getting your own materials in order should be a piece of cake.

Damn, I put together quite a package for you and I barely even brag about it, if this prop was on sale at one of the big marketplaces it would be called "GUITAR SUPER-REALISTIC ULTRA-MEGA PACK". I guess I need to work on my marketing skills.

All the styles

Disclaimer:
I don't know anything about guitars, I just needed one and made this based on images i found on the net. It is not made to millimeter precision, there are some inaccuracies (like at the back of the neck since I had no good pictures of that part). The guitar is based on a Westwood, as I understand it a vintage model. I have no idea if this is a good or cool guitar in real life, I just liked the way it looked. Feel free to enlighten me if you're a guitar expert.

Either way I think it turned out all right and certainly good enough for my needs. Besides, if you need engineering perfection you are probably a professional and in that case money is not an issue and you're not using poser anyway.

I couldn't be bothered to make a guitar strap since a prop-strap needs a crapload of morphs in order to be useful. I think it's easier to just Photoshop a strap in as postwork.

I made this guitar because I couldn't find a decent free one anywhere. I am a bit annoyed at how the so called poser-community is becoming more and more commercialized. It is almost a closed system where the whole community are turning into merchants selling their stuff to each other. So I suppose it is fair to say I made this guitar out of spite. Speaking of which, I wrote a little observation about the rationality of "freebies", you can read it here.

Also, if anyone finds use for this item, I've begun to pay back for the help I've received from generous people over the years.

I don't ask for anything in return for this prop (except that you respect the Legal stuff below). However, if you make any interesting pictures with the guitar I'd enjoy seeing them so feel free to send me a link or a pic.

Legal stuff:
Please read the legal page which details under what conditions you may download and use this prop.
Since you won't read it anyway, here is the short version of the fine print:

You may download and use this product for any non-profit purpose. That means if you make money from it in any way, shape or form you will break the law and piss me off. You can use it to create any images or art you want but you can't upload this package or any part of it anywhere, especially not to pay sites. Nor can you include it in anything you sell. The exception is that you may distribute it over peer-to-peer networks (i.e. bitTorrent, DC) but please keep it in its original ZIP file.

Note this: Using the guitar to make PR-picture or ads is a breach of the licence. That includes pictures used to peddle the so called merchant products on the aftermarket sites. I don't want see the guitar used to sell anybody else's shit and if you think I won't bother to do anything about it, remember I made the guitar out of spite in the first place.

Beyond this, knock yourself out, ok? Allright, I'm glad we had this talk.
